Jesse McCarter, M.S., is a Founding Senior Research Associate in the Center for Research and Collaborative Partnerships in the School of Public Affairs at American University.  

Jesse serves as a Senior Research Associate at American University’s School of Public Affairs, where she aids in data collection and analysis, preparing reports and publications, and conducting background research for various multi-agency grant-related projects. She began work with the CRCP team as a graduate research assistant and research associate, performing qualitative and quantitative data analysis on multiple grant-related projects. 

Jesse has extensive experience in the legal field working in various roles related to personal injury and criminal prosecution. Jesse interned with the Jacksonville Urban League’s Center for Advocacy and Social Justice, performing research on bail reform in Florida and organizing community meetings centered around law enforcement and mental health reforms. 

Her current research projects include conducting interviews for an evaluation of Colorado’s Veterans Treatment Courts, data cleaning and analysis for Data-Driven and Evidence-Based Policy Reform to Reduce Disparities with the Fairfax County Prosecutor’s Office, aiding in report writing for an evaluation of Arkansas’s Adult Drug Treatment Courts, conducting assessments for the BJA Veterans Treatment Court Risk and Need Enhancement Initiative, and two projects with Verizon to highlight Veterans Treatment Courts that involved publication writing and event planning.  

Jesse is a graduate from American University with a background in legal services, criminal justice, and community outreach.
