John Eassey, Ph.D., is a Founding Research Professor in the Center for Research and Collaborative Partnerships and Research Professor in the Department of Justice, Law & Criminology in the School of Public Affairs at American University.
Dr. Eassey is a research professor who specializes in research design, evaluation methodology, quasi-experimental design, and techniques rooted in supporting causality. He is also well-versed in longitudinal data analysis, including multilevel, random and fixed effects, and techniques aimed at modeling change over time.
Dr. Eassey’s research interest falls generally into life-course criminology, focusing specifically on crime and delinquency related to employment and employment conditions, substance use among general and special populations, and the relationship between peers and offending across the life course. His worked has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including Criminology, the Journal of Criminal Justice, and the American Journal of Criminal Justice.
He obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Florida in 2016 in Criminology, Law, and Society, and holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
